Decision clarity spread

This spread supports decision hygiene. It does not choose an option for you; it separates values, evidence, uncertainty, and the next responsible action.

Positions

1. Priority
Which value, need, or obligation should the decision protect?
2. Known
What evidence, resource, or constraint is already available?
3. Uncertain
What assumption, missing fact, or emotional pressure needs to remain unresolved for now?
4. Next inquiry
What small action could improve the quality of the decision before commitment?

Read each position as a question or viewing angle. A card does not erase the position, and the position does not reduce the card to one keyword. Write the link between them in a complete sentence.

When to use it

Use this spread for choices where reflection can expose priorities and information gaps. It is strongest before a reversible next step, when you still have time to ask questions or compare options.

Before shuffling, name who the question is about, what evidence you already have, and when you will revisit the note. That frame gives the spread a boundary and makes later reflection more honest.

When not to use it

Do not use it to outsource medical, legal, financial, safeguarding, or emergency decisions. Do not treat the cards as probabilities or hidden facts. A deadline, contract, budget, or professional assessment stays outside the deck and must be checked directly.

Use it with a physical deck

  1. Write the actual options and the deadline separately from the tarot question.
  2. Lay four cards in a square: priority and known above, uncertain and next inquiry below.
  3. For every interpretation, mark whether it comes from the image, your context, or an external fact.
  4. List missing evidence beside the third card without asking the card to supply it.
  5. End with an information-gathering action, not a prediction of which option will win.

Use it with Tarot Sidequest

The runtime catalogue currently contains the “decision” spread descriptor at version 1.0.0, with 4 stable positions. You can use the browser app for this shape and keep the interpretation private in its local journal.

Open the private reading app when you want its current card chooser and browser-local journal. The app does not send your question or reflection to a remote interpretation service.

Close and revisit

End with one sentence that begins “I can test this by …” or “I want to notice …” Avoid converting ambiguity into certainty. On the revisit date, compare the note with what happened and add a follow-up instead of rewriting the original response.
